Artist
NOBU is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo, Japan. He was introduced to art in the summer of 2012 and spent six years making oil paintings and drawings on the theme of the unconscious realm and primitive aspects of human nature. He then went on to study at the University of the Arts London, where he focused on sculpture, video and installation work.
His central concept is environmental pollution, such as marine plastics, which have become a hot topic in recent years. A visit to Saudi Arabia, where I saw the wreckage of car parts and metal fragments left in the vast desert, sparked my interest in the environmental impact of capitalist society. He considers a responsibility towards the environment behind all the conveniences we humans have created in living in harmony with nature. His work brings to light the problems of post-capitalism.
