ABOUT

Nobutaka Asanuma

Nobutaka Asanuma is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo, London and VRChat. He is interested in the pluralistic identities that arise in the relationship between the virtual and natural worlds and the cultures and practices unique to the virtual world. He also looks to religious thought such as Lao Zhuang and Middle Way thought, and the philosophical ideas of Yasuo Deguchi's Self As We, John Keats' Negative Capability, Merleau-Ponty and Deleuze=Guattari as approaches to the discrimination we have discussed throughout our long history. Through his artistic expression, he shows that agents other than oneself, such as the surrounding environment and others, are part of the self, that we accept the world as it is, and that the flexibility and unbiasedness of our thinking that can be seen from these aspects can lead to the improvement of our Well-Being.
